Bhalwan Singh : An Unexpected Yodha of Punjab

“Oh pind waleyon assi gori sarkar da aamna – saamna karke apne pind leyi oh leke aye aan, jo aaj tak koi maikalaal nhi la paya”, exclaims the high-spirited Bhalwan Singh, reckoned to be the real Yodha of Punjab. “Tu vekhi jayi, main na kalla he gori sarkar na matha la lena ae”, he further claims.

Today's Punjabi release, Bhalwan Singh is set during the era of British Rule times and it revolves around a village boy named, Bhalwan Singh who intends to actually do something for his country by standing against the British Empire. However, he repeatedly fails and no one considers him worth anything. Inspired by the situation of Punjab in the year 1938, the movie depicts a warrior namely Bhalwan Singh who unexpectedly becomes a catalyst of change and puts a halt to the agony suffered by the people of Punjab at the hands of the British. The lead role is being characterized by the rising singer-turned-actor, Ranjit Bawa who has already received immense critical acclaim for his previous songs and movies.

Bhalwan Singh was shot in a mere time span of 35 days in Suratgarh, Patiala, and Mumbai. Stars including Navpreet Banga, Karamjit Anmol, Manav Vij, Rana Jung Bahadur and Mahabir Bhullar are seen playing a pivotal role.

"I am very enthusiastic and happy to work in this movie with a wonderful team and looking forward to a positive response from the audience”, said Ranjit Bawa.

While Ranjit Bawa has truly been seen as a warrior paving the way through the atrocities of life towards the illumination of the tunnel, it seems like he is the most suitable actor for the role of Bhalwan Singh, for he is certainly no less than the Yodha of Punjab.
