Gippy Grewal, the Punjabi rockstar, who's been currently promoting Lucknow Central, his most-awaited Hindi film with Farhan Akhtar, is also simultaneously shooting for his next Punjabi flick, Subedar Joginder Singh.
However, what has come as a shock for his fans is the fact that the Manje Bistre actor has added about 17 pounds. While revealing in his live Facebook video, the superstar said that he was about 73 kgs earlier and now his weight has reached 81 kgs (179 pounds approx.). He even said that he he is chilling in Goa right now to add more weight as his target is about 90 kgs.
Well when we quizzed him about this, he said that his upcoming Punabi film based on the life of Punjaby martyr Subedar Singh requires him to first gain weight and then drastically shed it as well. "It's a challenging role — to begin with, I have to gain about 25 kilos and then lose some to look the part. Also, it's history that we're delving into; so, we have to be doubly careful about facts and the way we present it. It's a massive responsibility to blend in the right amount of emotions, especially because of the current state of affairs in the sub-continent."
While Lucknow Central releases on 15th September, Subedar Joginder Singh release date is yet not confirmed. This is a biopic on Subedar Joginder Singh, who was a soldier, posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra for his extraordinary courage while protecting the Indian soil on the Line of Control during the Sino-Indo war of 1962.
